I am Dr Ahmed Al-Bahrani, a General Surgeon specialising in benign and malignant Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) conditions, based at Hamad General Hospital (HGH), Doha, Qatar, since September 2019, chairing the Upper GI MDT at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) since 2020.

 

Formerly, lead clinician of the Upper GI Cancer Centre for Hertfordshire and south Bedfordshire; part of Beds and Herts (Mount Vernon previously) Cancer Network, visiting Upper GI Consultant Surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare, London. 

 

I have undergone comprehensive training for open and laparoscopic Upper GI, Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB), Hernia and General Surgery in the Iraq and England. My specialist training (SpR) was based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge) and other hospitals in the East of England. With experience of over 6000 cases operated on, including over 3000 Upper GI cases, I am confident dealing with different Upper GI and General Surgical conditions.

My private practice in Baghdad, as an Upper GI and Laparoscopic General Surgeon, is based at Al-Janoob Private Hospital, with regular clinics, endoscopy and theatre sessions.
